TEXAS STORIES is a fun, new way to learn about the history and heritage of the Lone Star State. The project will feature stories, interviews and a Weekly e-Newsletter plus a weekly What’s My Story? online contest with prizes. Each "story" program will have a companion web page featuring the audio clip, transcription, historic image and keyword links in the Listening Library. A Program Guide will feature the story’s research, image and music sources.
Famous Texans, historic sites and important moments in Texas history will be the initial focus of our programming. However, TEXAS STORIES will also highlight popular legends and lore, explore origins of Texas myths, and take a close-up look at unusual landmarks, icons and Texas traditions.
OUR TOWN
Topics with more local and regional interest will be featured in OUR TOWN: Audio Postcardsand Audio Snapshots from the Past. These online-only programming will be created for the Project's City/County web pages and e-Newsletter.

Emphasis will be placed on positive stories that celebrate the human spirit, honor achievement, and/or show how individuals overcame hardships to make significant contributions to their communities, state and nation.
Primary Sources
The Handbook of Texas Online, published by the Texas State Historical Association, will serve as the primary source of information for our programming. Additional resources will include the collections of the Texas State Library and Archives, Texas history textbooks, books by recognized Texas historians, and original documents, such as newspapers, letters, diaries and historical papers.
Interviews
Each week, our web site and e-Newsletter will present excerpts from an interview with an author, historian, preservationist, educator, museum curator, historic site manager or other special guest. These programs will focus on what’s happening in Texas history today, such as excavations, preservation projects, museum exhibits, new interpretations of history, and author interviews. A companion web page will feature more information about the guest and topic.
