TEXAS STORIES' Mission is to develop entertaining and educational resources for online and broadcast distribution that increase public understanding of Texas history, foster greater pride and appreciation for the State's cultural heritage, celebrate diversity, encourage historic preservation and community involvement, promote historic tourism, and assist educators in teaching Texas History through the use of media and technology.

TEXAS STORIES also seeks to:

• Provide historians, educators and historic preservationists a new avenue for communicating information to the general public

• Provide Texans with an easily, accessible online portal to the wide array of available Texas history resources and web sites hosted by state agencies, historical associations and other nonprofit and educational organizations

• Offer Texans the opportunity to share their "Texas Stories" with a larger audience through new or existing projects in collaboration with other organizations
